Dr. Surajit Saha

Dr. Surajit Saha is an accomplished academician, researcher, and industry-exposed professional in the field of Organizational Behaviour (OB) and Human Resource Management (HRM). He is currently serving as a faculty member at XIM University, Bhubaneswar, where he is actively involved in teaching, research, and academic development. With over seven years of post-PhD experience in higher education, complemented by prior industry exposure, Dr. Saha brings a strong, practice-oriented perspective to management education.
Dr. Saha earned his Ph.D. in Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur in 2018. His doctoral research examined the relationships between personality traits, leadership work profiles, creativity, and organizational innovation structures, highlighting his long-standing interest in leadership, innovation, and organizational design. He also holds an MBA from IIT Kanpur and a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from the University of Calcutta. This interdisciplinary educational background enables him to integrate behavioural science with analytical and technological approaches in HRM.
Before joining XIM University, Dr. Saha served as an Assistant Professor of OB and HRM at ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad, from 2021 to Oct. 2025, and earlier at ISB&M, Pune. During this period, he made significant contributions to curriculum development and academic innovation. He introduced and redesigned contemporary courses such as HR Tech, Technology in HRM, and HR Analytics, incorporating advanced analytical tools, social network analysis, organizational network analysis, text analytics, and mixed-method research approaches to align management education with evolving industry needs.
In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Saha has industry experience as a Business Analyst, where he worked closely with organizational data, business processes, and decision-support systems. This hands-on industry exposure strengthened his understanding of real-world HR and organizational challenges, particularly in analytics-driven decision-making, performance management, and process optimization. His industry experience significantly informs his teaching and research, enabling him to bridge the gap between theory and practice effectively.
Dr. Saha has an active research profile with publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including Information Technology & People and the International Journal of Manpower (ABDC A category). His research focuses on remote work, leadership and emotional intelligence, employee engagement, communication satisfaction, corporate social responsibility, and technology-mediated work environments. His scholarly work has garnered a substantial number of citations, reflecting its academic relevance and impact within the academic community. A significant aspect of Dr. Saha’s academic profile is his contributions to case study development and case-based teaching. He has authored and published teaching cases on HR technology and competency mapping.
Methodologically, Dr. Saha is proficient in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method research designs, with strong expertise in PLS-SEM, latent variable modelling, systematic literature reviews, and bibliometric analysis. He is skilled in analytical tools such as SPSS, SmartPLS, and NVivo, and possesses working knowledge of C++ and Java, reinforcing his capabilities in HR analytics and data-driven research.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Saha actively contributes to the academic and professional community. He serves as a regular reviewer for reputed international journals and was a Principal Member of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) panel on Business Process Management. He is also involved in doctoral supervision and faculty development, mentoring scholars and early-career researchers.
